The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies. In 2018/19 AY, twelve programmes are included in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $41,000 to $71,700 per year. To supervise and deploy technicians, and supporting staff in laboratories and workshops;
To oversee the setting up of facilities and services for the Faculty;
To be responsible for the management of various sports coaching, sports therapy related laboratories, and support-related services;
To supervise technicians in providing technical support and guidance to staff and students in teaching & learning and research-related activities;
To supervise the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of equipment and apparatus;
To assist in demonstrations and laboratory or practical teaching classes and projects;
To coordinate the procurement of consumables, equipment and systems;
To keep stores and inventory and prepare store and equipment estimates; and
To oversee and enforce the overall safety regulations in the designated areas of the operational unit, and ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the operating areas.
A recognised diploma or a higher certificate, preferably a higher qualification, in Sports Science, Sports Therapy, Sports Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines with at least 6 years’ relevant work experience;
Experience in workshop or laboratory management in sizable organisations;
Proficiency in various common sports related measurement systems such as metabolic system, heart rate system, motion capture system, blood lactate, glucose, ketone system, electromyography system, ultrasonography system, shock wave and foot scanner, etc;
Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and supervisory and administrative abilities; and
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Candidates may be appointed on temporary terms of employment.
Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend and pass a trade test.
The appointee may be required to perform shift duties, or work in irregular hours on a need basis.
The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
